Fuller Moon Arts Festival 2022 Artists and Performers
ARTISTS
Murals in Motion, Heidi Lanino
During the Festival, Lanino is choreographing a prompted mural-painting experience, Murals in Motion, inspired by the setting. Join her at 1:30, 2:30, 3:30, and 4:30pm in the Dance Studio to use sound, dance and rhythm to experiment with mark-making while reacting to and influencing the work of those around you. Lanino has also set up an outdoor mural for Festival visitors to collaborate on. Learn more about the artist at: www.heidilanino.com or www.instagram.com/heidilanino
Skin Deep: Voices from Beneath the Surface, Vernon Byron
Artist Vernon Byron has received an Artist Support Grant from the New York State Council on the Arts to develop a research-based immersive video projection project that explores the history of land use and inhabitation in Warwick, highlighting diverse communities that have existed here and reaffirming their continued presence. At the Festival he is conducting interviews to inform his research and showing excerpts from the work in progress. Learn more about the artist at: https://linktr.ee/Vernon.M.Byron
Solidarity, Amanda E. Gross
"The earth is what we all have in common." - Wendell Berry
“The land knows you even when you are lost…" - Robin Wall Kimmerer
This installation has three parts that the artist intends to harmonize to engage the mind, body, emotions, and spirit to connect in solidarity with others and the earth. Conveying radical inclusion, "YOU BELONG" is sculpted from straw, clay, and sand, elevating mundane natural materials to art. Wild-growing plants are labeled with their common names, transforming "weeds" from strange objects to be eliminated into familiar, intimate subjects. And a sanctuary structure made from locally foraged bamboo and cotton lashing strengthens the spiritual and sacred feeling of the space, with glittering crystals engaging the senses with sound, light, beauty, play, and magic. The Nest, Nicole Hixon
Artist Nicole Hixon created The Nest from repurposed bicycle inner tubes, recycled steel belted radial tires, and zip ties as a space for people to feel safe, to come together, to relax and to feel nurtured. The Nest has been exhibited at locations including Governors Island Art Fair; conversations about life, love and art often happen while friends new and old are made. Warwick-based artist Hixon is pleased to share The Nest with her local community and reminds us that just as with a bird's nest, time in this nest is fleeting. She invites all to come rest, enjoy, meet yourselves and others and find solace in this space.

Dandelions, Maxine Leu
Using white acrylic globes, LED lights, wire nets, cable ties, duct caps, and steel rods, Leu has created a mini forest of illuminated dandelions. The Tawainese-born artist notes, “Dandelions are common in many places around the world, meaning they have traveled far and wide. Some people make wishes when they blow on them, so I see dandelions as messengers, sending those wishes to people I miss in faraway places.”

Kindred Face, Daniel McQuade
Kindred Face is made from silicone, clay, and cement. Artist Daniel McQuade notes, “The creation process is therapeutic in many ways, bringing something from nothing through clay.” A large part of my personal life and my art project revolves around mental health. The abstract face you see came about during a challenging transitional time. I hope for you to feel soothed and relaxed thinking about the faces just as I did and continue to do.”

Synthesizer Petting Zoo II, Torino: Margolis
Jenny Torino and Ben Margolis have created two stations that provide different analog synthesizer experiences. One has multiple synthesizers that Festival-goers can play together, standing around a table. The second is a meditative station facing the lake, where one participant canl kneel or sit on a cushion in front of a low table with a synthesizer connected to a tactile audio strap and headphones. You can manipulate the synthesizer, creating drone-like sounds and sonic vibrations while looking out into the lake and Fuller Mountain.
